The Heroes are the whole family
Denis Zakharovich and Ksenia Alekseevna had 6 children. The father was a Chairman of the Collective Farm. When the Great Patriotic war began, all the members of the family raised to defend their Motherland. The elder son Vasily died in autumn of 1941 in the rank of a major, defending Kiev, the second son Yevstra was the chief oа PKIA(People Kommisariat of Internal Affairs) of Staradorozhsky district of Minsk region before the war. As soon as the fascists attacked our Motherland, according to the decision of the Party organs he was left in the rear of the enemy for organization of underground work and partisan movment. Within a short period of time Yevstrat organized a wide underground net on the territory of Luban and Starodorozhsky district. In January of 1942 , fulfilling a very important task of the underground district committee of the CPB, he was killed in the unequal battle with fascists. The remains of the hero are buried in the park of the district center Luban. The Collective Farm in the Starye Yurkovichi was called by his name.
The Hero of soviet Union, one of the famous organizers of the partisan movement on the territory of Belarus R.Machylski told warmly in his essay “People of high duty” about personal qualities of Yevstrat Garbochev , his courageous struggle with the enemy.
Here is what he writes: ”Yevstrat, a young joyful man with blue eyes was very brave and daring in the battle. On the task of the district Committee he directed the operation on the destruction of the enemy garrnison in the village Kuzmichi and other partisan actions.” By the way, the territory, where the people revengers acted under his command, was called “Garbochevka”.
The middle son Sergei work as a zootechnologist. From the first days of the war he got included into the underground work. In1942,while walking to the connection with partisan detachment of Fyodor Povlovsky ,Sergei was kept by the fascists invaders. The patriot bore all the tortures courageously, but he didn’t tell the enemy why he was going to the Octyabrsky district .When the invaders went for lunch, Sergei attacked the guard, took his gun and, shooting, began moving to the forest. But he failed to escape. The enemy bullet overtook the hero.
The son Mikhail got the war experience from the first days of the war. His artillery regiment was keeping defense on the Dneper in the region of Globin and Rogachev. In summer of 1941. The Soviet soldiers kept the pressure of fascists troops for a long time. But the forces were unequal. During the beat forces the group of artillerists incidentally got into the surrounding. With great efforts they managed to get away from the round .But the soldiers were not able to get the East to their army. And Mikhail began organizing partisan detachment.
The brothers Mikhail and Sergei were engaged in gathering the arms, the old father became a connector with the underground group. The house of the elder Denis daughter, Maria vorozhu, that was situated on the border of the forest village Gogoleva, became the presence house. In this secret place, the radio, was set which was made by radio lover Genady Sidorovsky. Regularly they listened to the news of the SovietInform .
When Demonovitsky partisan detachment was formed Mikhail became its commander and the chief of the staff .Mikhail with honor calls the names of revengers, who fearlessly struggle with fascists invaders .
In summer the detachment grew to the Domonovitsky 101 brigade. On account of this people there are a lot of heroic deeds.
For bravery and courage in the struggle with the enemy Mikail Denisovitch Gorbachev was rewarded 10 war rewards. After the war he lived in Minsk, worked as a Vice Minister of Finance in BSSR, was the candidate of economics.
The partisan leader was meeting young people, telling them about the heroic deedsof the people revengers, he actively participated in the bringing up of the young generation.
And what was the destiny of other members of the family. The father, Denis Zakharovich and the daughter Maria were seized and shot by the fascists in summer of 1942. The mother, Ksenia Alekseevna, was send from the partisan detachment by plane to Mozyr in summer of 1943. Three of the Gorbachev family were rewarded by the orders of Red Banners according to the Supreme Decree of the Council of Supreme Soviet.
Very long ago war battles ended, but the people didn’t forget these heroes. At our peaceful time there are always flowers on the tombs of these heroes...from relatives and those, who are thankful for the victory and for life.
