          The Great Patriotic War one of the greatest wars of XX century , was finished about 60 years ago. The victory of the Soviet Army in the battle of Kursk marked the ending of a radical chang e in the war and lead to crushing of the fascist Germany. Our countryman, D.A. Bakurov participated in the battle of Kursk . The man is an outstanding person of our area. He is a Hero of the Soviet Union. A street in our village is named after he. D.A. Bakurov was born in Novoyarky of Kamensky district in Altai region in 1922. In 1933 the family moved to Pankrushiha. He went to our school from 3 to 10 form and having finished it, he started to work in the Pankrushiha branch of the state bank. In May, 1941 the Bakurovs moved to Ust-Prystan in Altai region, where he worked as an assistant accountant in the regional industrial combine, and then in the regional agricultural department. In July, 1941 he was sent to Tomsk artillery school. After studies in a rank of the junior lieutenant he went to the Middle-Asian military district, where it was formed a regiment for departure in the Army in the Field. Since April, 1942 Bakurov is at the front of the Great Patriotic war. He is a participant in the battle of Kursk, of forced crossing Desna and Pripyat, and liberation of Poland.(The “55 years of Victory” newspaper) In September, 1943 at forced crossing Desna and Pripyat the captain Bakurov proved himself to be the courageous and skilled officer , the true son of Motherland. In spite of a storm of shells of the enemy,”Bakurovtsy” carried on a courageous and right reconnaissance of enemy point targets on the right side of Dnepr. When the infantry divisions started the forced crossing of Dnepr, the battery of captain Bakurov has destroyed alive force and engineering of the enemy by well-aimed firing .The ferry was provided . In his memoirs Bakurov writes: Gunners and an infantry company beat off enemy’s attacks one by one, the guns of our battery shot down fascist tanks, and the infantryman shot continiously with submachine guns and rifles, even trunks were red. Bakurov finished the Great Patriotic War in Prague, in Czechoslovakia. He is a participant of the Parade of the Victory in Moscow. The captain Bakurov has accounted for about 200 destroyed hitlerites, 7 machine–gun points, 2 mortars, 1 gun and 4 burnt tanks. D. A. Bakurov was awarded fighting government awards: the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War of the first class, the “For courage” and “For long service” medals, anniversary medals – total 14 pieces. (The “55 years of the Victory newspaper”) He was awarded the title of Hero of the SU and the Order of Lenin for heroism and courage when the Dnepr crossing to the north of Kiev. Bakurov graduated from the higher artillery school. From 1954 to 1959 he was allotted to the Soviet troops in GDR, then from 1959 to1965 served at headquarters of rocket forces in the Sibirien military district. In January 1965 he retired in the rank of lietenant – colonel, then he was a vice president of Voluntary Society for Assisting Army, Air Force and Navy in Novosibirsk. Bakurov has lived in Novosibirsk now. He is a vice president of regional council of war veterans. He carries on the military patriotic work among youth. He is an example for youth .Our compatriot went through all the war. He has a lot of awards. Bakurov often visits Pankrushiha and our school! Last summer he gave to our school the book named “60 years of the Kursk fight” with his memoirs about the Great Patriotic War. “We fought desperately for every patch of Soviet Land, liberating it from fascists. In the fighting the soldiers of 1st battalion, and our scouts Matjushkin, Luchek were remarkable for their bravery, and also the sappers, who cleared of mines the gaps in the obstacles. The country men of every liberated village met us with joy, bread and salt, embraced us and cried with happiness”. In our school museum there is an exhibition devoted to Bakurov. It contains the things be longing to him. They are shoulder-straps of war years, a field bag, books about war, a pass #00301 given him on the Red Square, where on May 9, 2003 took place the military parade devoted to the 58-th anniversary of the Great Victory, some awards, Bakurov’s letters and telegrams. The pupils of our school know the biography and feats of the Hero of Soviet Union well.
